READ, THEN PLAY

What if you tried it at home?

A story about a picnic could turn into a game of counting plates. You could even set up a picnic for your toys. Here’s how that might look.

  1. Read a picnic story

    Who’s coming to the picnic?

  2. Count the plates

    How many will everyone need?

  3. Try it with your toys

Set a place for each toy.

FOR PARENTS AND CARERS

Play along when you can.

These ideas are for children who are starting to count, recognise shapes, and learn words. We’re planning ways for adults to join in, with activities to try away from the screen too.

In the meantime, how about a story?
