The Monkey Who Couldn’t Wait

Once in a lush green jungle, a Monkey and a Turtle found a banana tree floating down a river. With wide eyes and happy hearts, they pulled it ashore and decided to split it in two.

Monkey took the leafy top, dreaming of juicy bananas. Turtle took the sturdy base, slow and steady as always. Each went home and planted their piece with care.

Time passed. Sunlight danced, rain tapped the earth, and something wonderful happened—Turtle’s tree stretched tall, with golden bananas hanging like treasure. Monkey’s tree, though, stayed still and bare.

Curious, Monkey visited Turtle’s garden. His eyes grew wide at the sight of the big, fruit-laden tree. When Turtle wasn’t looking, Monkey climbed up and feasted on the bananas, one after another, until his belly bulged like a balloon.
But soon, he felt a rumble—a deep, twisty stomachache. Regret sank in. He had eaten too much, too fast, and none of it was his.
The next day, he returned, slow and sheepish. Turtle, wise and kind, forgave him. From that moment on, Monkey learned that growing things takes patience—and good friends are worth more than all the bananas in the world.
